Te a Te Seminar Series 2026 – 2027: Authentic East-Asian Medicine Revealed- A 4-Module Program over 2 years in “Te a Te” Style Japanese Acupuncture – Expression of Interest

Tsuyoshi Shimamura Sensei returns to Australia in 2026/2027!!!!!!!

For 2026-2027, after a long hiatus (through and post COVID), Qiology has invited Tsuyoshi Shimamura Sensei to Sydney, Australia for the: Te a Te Seminar Series 2026-2027.

Shimamura Sensei was invited to teach in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia, yearly, from 2014-2019, where he not only taught his foundation and advanced curriculum, but several special topics in Japanese acupuncture. He captured the hearts and minds of many Australian acupuncturists with his passion and dedication to excellence in practice, and the open sharing of his privileged knowledge to those with dedication to learn.

Shimamura Sensei has been continually impressed with the passion, enthusiasm, positive attitude and dedication of Australian attendees. Shimamura is continuing to teach in Australia, the curriculum he has developed for practitioners and students to learn the unique skillsets he acquired during his apprenticeship with revered acupuncture master- Kiyoshi Nagano Sensei, and throughout his 25+ years of clinical practice in Japan. The core curriculum, outlined in our curriculum tab, is designed to build the skills of the practitioner gradually to a high level of proficiency in the unique diagnostic and treatment methods Shimamura Sensei uses in his clinical approach, that allow him to achieve outstanding clinical results.

Practitioners will marvel at this hands-on treatment approach, which through cross-referencing pulse and abdominal palpation and other methods provides direct feedback on the effectiveness of your treatment in the moment, to guide your treatment process, as patients simultaneously feel and perceive the changes in their body with treatments immediately. Combining this with a unique understanding of the order of treatment according to Qi, Blood and Fluids/Water, this is an extremely clinically effective treatment system that you wish you learned at an undergraduate level!

This seminar series is recommended to practitioners/students who wish to learn a gentle, simple but profound, and clinically effective style of acupuncture that will yield highly effective clinical results, and can be learned and integrated easily and effectively into their practice for immediate clinical results, but will take time to develop and master.

Practitioners and students will be able to move through a progressive system of advancement and development, fostered by Shimamura Sensei as they attend successive seminars in the core curriculum.
This iteration of Shimamura Sensei’s core curriculum is the most refined and developed iteration of his teachings to date, after tirelessly working on and revising his material over the last years.

Aside from offering his core curriculum seminars, Shimamura has also covered selected special topics when he teaches in Australia, to augment skillsets in specific practice areas. These are available as online learnings on Qiology’s online learning system. They can be purchased and reviewed for those with special interests in certain areas of development.

Each seminar is interpreted and co-presented by Seishiro Hokazono, in his dynamic, energetic and engaging style.
Without the sheer skill and excellence of Seishiro’s teaching assistance and interpreting prowess, we would not have such an opportunity to learn these methods, so it is with great gratitude that we welcome Hokazono back to Australia to co-present with Shimamura Sensei.

“As a teaching duo, Shimamura and Hokazono embody the principles of the core of East Asian Medicine. Not only do they exhibit excellence in practice and treatment, but they also have a gift for being able to teach these unique and clinically effective methods to students and practitioners of all levels.”

“Please remember to go back to “Stomach Qi”, when you find yourself confused and troubled. One should go back to Stomach Qi to create the beautiful acupuncture treatment, like a flowing river. This is an ideal treatment that Master Nagano taught me. “

Tsuyoshi Shimamura

Tsuyoshi Shimamura obtained licensure as an Acupuncturist and Moxibustionist in Japan in 1995 after completing studies at Meiji Acupuncture and Moxibustion College. Shimamura was fortunate to undertake a live-in apprenticeship with Master Nagano during the final years of Master Nagano’s life, living and working with Master Nagano between 1997 and 2000 as his closest apprentice.
Shimamura not only inherited a vast amount of Nagano’s teachings, techniques, and theories but also gained an important insight into his character. Tsuyoshi Shimamura is a member of the Japan Acupuncturist Association, and has also published articles and DVDs for Ido-No-Nippon. Since 2006, Shimamura has been teaching seminars on the Acupuncture and diagnostic methods he learned during his time with Master Nagano. Shimamura has also taught a variety of hands-on manual techniques to Shiatsu practitioners, physical therapists, Bone-Setters and cosmetic therapists in Japan.

Mr. Shimamura currently develops what he has learned with Master Nagano personally during their time together, and what he has learned from Master Acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto, as in his heart there is no replacement for their teachings. As a result Mr. Shimamura focuses only on teaching openly and passionately to his students, that which he learned directly from Master Nagano and Kiiko Matsumoto, the most inspirational influences in Shimamura’s life. In recent years, Shimamura has impressed international students with his clarity and depth of understanding, his mindful presence, and his commitment to sharing Master Nagano’s legacy. Tsuyoshi Shimamura runs clinics in Hiroshima and Ooita, Japan, and holds a 1st Degree Black-Belt in Judo.
As is required by National Law, we disclose that Tsuyoshi Shimamura is not a registered health professional within Australia.

Master-Nagano-and-Shimamura-Sensei Te a Te Seminar Series 2026 - 2027 | Sydney, Australia | A 4-Module Program over 2 years in "Te a Te" Style Japanese Acupuncture - Expressions of Interest

Who was Master Nagano?

In post-war Japan, Master Acupuncturist Kiyoshi Nagano began a remarkable and fruitful investigation. Despite being blind, Nagano memorized classical Chinese medicine literature and developed a unique and ingenious theoretical and clinical approach that incorporated classical concepts and emergent insights from Western medicine. His ideas and methods did not follow an established group, which brought a certain stigma in Japanese acupuncture circles. Being mentally robust, he was proud of his ‘lone wolf’ status. Over the next half a century – using his extraordinary palpation and pulse diagnosis skills as a guide – he crafted ingenious acupuncture protocols for all types of conditions. He also became a mentor to two of the most important Japanese acupuncture teachers of our time: Master Acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto and Tsuyoshi Shimamura. Master Nagano passed away in 2003

Te-a-Te-Hari Te a Te Seminar Series 2026 - 2027 | Sydney, Australia | A 4-Module Program over 2 years in "Te a Te" Style Japanese Acupuncture - Expressions of Interest

“Te A Te Hari”
“Pour passion and heart into your hands.”

This unforgettable command is what Master Nagano told me as I started my three-year apprenticeship with him. I always wonder if I am properly executing his command as I needle myself every morning. One of Master Nagano’s patients told me: “Just having a touch of Sensei’s hands makes me feel better. His hands remind me of my mother.” I still remember his warm hands when I first received his handshake. I cannot do the same acupuncture treatment like Master Nagano. But, I feel the calling to pass his command to other fellow colleagues. I would like to bring in the passion as I diagnose patients with my hands. I pour my heart into every needle to help alleviate the suffering. If I can transmit this message via how I show my treatment style through seminars, I feel comfortable naming my style: Te A Te Hari. Te A Te means “laying a hand”, “treatment”, and “appropriate preparation or allowance”. Hari = Needle. I believe that actual treatment can start by touching a patient. Thus, having healing hands is very important to any practitioner. Please join me in a conversation of realizing my master’s words.

Special Terms and Conditions for this seminar series:

Transparency Statement:

As a seminar provider, we offer events to raise the standard of our profession, and create high quality continuing professional development events to help people excel in their acupuncture practice due to the access to high quality training that they receive.
In exchange for this we receive payment from our attendees to pay for the expenses of our events, our presenters and also to receive due reward for our risk and effort of providing such events.
We always do our best to create a balance for all parties involved, where we meet our own needs of receiving due reward, and that of our presenters, whilst balancing this with the expenses involved in running events. We always balance this with the pricing that we pass on to our attendees, in the spirit of fairness. In the spirit of fairness, we also do not provide lock-in up-front payment necessitation for the full 2-year program in advance, to respect the cashflow of our attendees.

Certain programs we run are low risk, and some are higher risk.

The running of a multi-year program always brings with it certain risks, such as that of attrition of attendees over time, due to various circumstances.

This program can only be attended as a full 4-module program. It is designed to be a series of 4 modules. To assure the success of such a program, we must put some firm boundaries in place with our attendees.

Therefore we have special terms to protect our own interests and that of our presenters in offering this course:

  • The program will proceed after we have 30 + expressions of interest.
  • Serious expressions of interest are accepted only- therefore we request payment with your expression of interest.
  • Repeat attendees are not included in the 30+ Minimum program attendee list, but are considered additional attendees not included in our course expense projections.
  • If you withdraw your expression of interest after the program proceeds, we will keep your AU$ 110 Inc GST Expression of Interest payment.
This is in the spirit of taking us seriously, as we are only running this program with a sufficient attendance.
  • If we do not proceed with the program due to lack of expressions of interest, we will refund your AU$ 110 Inc GST Expression of Interest payment in full.
  • Please note that when we have confirmed 30+ expressions of interest, we will proceed with payment plan offerings and terms (based on pricing listed above), and the expression of interest payment will be added towards your seminar attendance payments.
  • Please note that after we confirm expressions of interest, and release infrastructure for registration, we will set a specific date for formal registrations and payments due.
  • These registrations and payments are to take place for the first seminar in the series after the release of this due date, and will be due by our set date.
  • If we do not receive the sufficient formal registrations and payments for our full number of attendees who expressed interest, within this timeframe, and the total number of registrations are below the minimum course viability number of 30 attendees, we will make a notification of cancellation, and proceed with refunding in full all course registrations.

Further Special Conditions:

Attrition is the withdrawal from a program for varying reasons.
When attrition occurs in a multi-event program that has budgeted expenses for each event, with contingency budgeting included, but the attrition reaches a certain amount of attendees, then the budgeting changes for subsequent events in the program. It’s our intention not to have this occur, but we understand that it is a reality that may occur.

For this reason, we have special conditions regarding attrition, that our attendees must agree to:

  • After the completion of the first event in the program, we permit program withdrawal, in the case that the methods of treatment and the program does not suit the needs of the attendee.
  • At this stage, if program withdrawal occurs, you have learned an excellent foundation of the first module to utilise this system of treatment in practice, although the training is far from complete. However, withdrawal at this stage is permitted.
  • 1 month after the completion of the first module, we will advise of an attendance census date for the 2nd-4th Modules.
  • Those who wish commit to attendance of the other modules in the program will have to do so by the specific date set by Qiology, and then registration and payment for the 2nd module must commence at that time, and all registrations by program attendees is to be completed by a specific date.
  • We will provide a document to be signed agreeing to the program attendance, and consent is to be given to payment of a Program Withdrawal Fee.
  • Once we have our full number of attendees for Modules 2-4, we will advise if the attendee numbers meet viability to complete the program.
  • If the numbers do not meet the total requirements, we will offer 2 options:
Option 1: Program Cancellation for Modules 2-4 and a complete refund for any payments made toward those modules will be given, and no Program Withdrawal Fee applied.
Option 2: Program Continuation of Modules 2-4, with increased pricing per module based on attendee numbers.
  • After this offer has been put forward, and we have a direction, depending on the decision of relevant attendees, we will proceed from there.
  • Program Modules 2-4 Withdrawal Payment:
Please note that if you are registered for the Modules 2-4 segment of the program, and withdraw from the program during these modules, you will be billed for a AU $1100 Inc GST Program withdrawal fee.
We will have you sign a document agreeing to this in advance of attending Modules 2-4, as program withdrawal jeopardises the program completion for other attendees in the program.

We sincerely thank you for your understanding of these special terms, and for understanding the challenges that continuing professional development organisers face with longer and special programs.
Despite all of these rules, we sincerely look forward to your attendance of this excellent program.
