Qiology
In July/August 2025, Qiology has once again invited Felip Caudet, international moxibustion instructor in the line of transmission of the Fukaya Style of Moxibustion, to Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, to conduct the Moxa Mastery Program 2025. This is particularly exciting as in the last 20+ years, less than a handful of world class moxibustion teachers have taught in a continuing professional development capacity within Australia, and the teaching of moxibustion methods and skills at an undergraduate level is severely lacking. This is Felip’s second teaching visit to Australia, and he is back by popular demand.
Qiology has taken the initiative to invite Felip Caudet to conduct this unique seminar series to “fan the flames” for moxibustion in this country, and raise the standard of moxibustion in Australia.
Moxibustion is a sophisticated method of treating the body from an Oriental Medicine perspective, which can have extremely powerful clinical results if practiced correctly. However, it involves a lot of hand dexterity, coordination, and skill to perform correctly, and these skills must be taught, then developed, and then refined further under the guidance of a qualified teacher who embodies this level of skill. Furthermore, to correctly perform moxibustion, the practitioner must understand how to correctly palpate the various areas of the body to find ‘Live Moxibustion Points’ and also know the different palpation styles required to do so, which informs the specific technique to be applied, and for what purpose. The practitioner then must correctly form moxa cones/grains or utilise other moxa methods to stimulate the live point/zone/area, and apply the correct technique and number of cones/grains or the correct amount of heat stimulation to create a change in the treatment zone to effect a treatment.
Moxibustion has a variety of methods, and styles- some are world-famous, and some are obscure.
The Moxa Mastery Program 2025 that we have put together allows the practitioner or student an opportunity to study foundations of Japanese moxibustion, and learn techniques of how to develop one’s skills autonomously throughout their lifetime of practice, as well as learn the foundations of 2 extremely clinically effective and complete Styles of moxibustion that are used for root and branch treatment of internal disorders, or treatment of musculoskeletal and postural disorders, respectively. We also have a special offering post AACMAC for rapidly learning easy-to-apply moxibustion methods, which is suitable for all practitioners.
To achieve this, we have 3 separate 2-day seminars, and one 1-day workshop in the Moxa Mastery Program 2025.
Attendees may attend 1 seminar, all, or a combination.
All seminars in the program have large practical components so attendees will feel confident to use what they learn as soon as they enter the clinic.

Curriculum details for each seminar in this program can be found in the following tabs.
Attendance recommendations based on content is also provided in the following tabs.
I have not been content with the level of moxibustion education in Australia throughout my time in the profession.
Whether it is at an undergraduate level, or for continuing professional development, our training in Australia has been lacking when it comes to moxibustion. Very few high calibre moxibustion teachers have come to Australia in the last 20+ years, with only basics being taught within Australia by those who have spent limited or very limited time with masters in the moxibustion traditions.
The modern conception that moxibustion is an occasional adjunctive tool to acupuncture needs to be reconsidered by modern practitioners, so that moxibustion plays an equally important role in treatment, in alignment with the traditional name of our art of Acupuncture- zhēn jiǔ (針灸 or 针灸 or 鍼灸 in Chinese) or shin kyu (しんきゅう in Japanese), which signifies Acupuncture-Moxa/Acupuncture-Moxibustion as a total therapeutic system-not just Acupuncture alone. There is a very good reason that in the Han Dynasty medical classics (including Mawangdui and Hantanpo excavated texts), and other Chinese, Japanese, and Korean medicine classics throughout the history of Oriental medicine, that Moxa (specific varieties of Artemisia) was used, and that moxibustion was performed, and that is due to its powerful clinical effects.
Although moxibustion originated in ancient times in China with some very powerful methods and traditions carried forward into the modern era, it flourished in Japan after it’s introduction to the country. It became an extremely refined method, with many clinically effective styles and lineages, and a modern day moxibustionist in Japan requires specific training and a specific moxibustionist license, which is separate to other Oriental Medicine licensing.
Qiology has made the Moxa Mastery Program 2025 available to the profession, so that we can learn moxibustion direct from the source (a teacher in the line of transmission of the Fukaya Style), to start using it more effectively in our practices for excellent clinical results. We look forward to you joining us for any or all of the seminars in this program.

Which seminar(s) to attend?- video by Felip Caudet
Felip R. Caudet Piñana
Felip has been in practice as a physiotherapist and acupuncturist since 1999, and specialises in Japanese moxibustion. He studied with Tetsuya Fukushima, the highest representative of the Fukaya style of Moxibustion until 2022, and Hideo Shinma (son of Fukaya Sensei). In the last years, Felip was recognised as the best student of Fukushima sensei by the master himself. Felip was then considered in the line of transmission of the Fukaya Style of Moxibustion (a renowned Japanese moxibustion style recognised for its powerful and rapidly effective results in treating the root cause of acute and chronic illnesses). This is also due to Felip’s developments and contributions to the style. For years, he has been teaching and spreading Fukayakyu around the world with a deep respect for his masters.
Felip is also the developer of Kinseikyu, a Structural/Postural Balancing Moxibustion method.
Felip has published several books on Japanese moxibustion (some translated to other languages), and articles in specialised journals such as “North American Journal of Oriental Medicine” and “Osaka Journal of Clinical Acupuncture and Moxibustion.” (please see the following tabs for links to articles)
Currently, he combines his teaching activity as an international lecturer (Japan, Brazil, Germany, UK, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain – and Australia) with a busy clinical practice in Tarragona (Spain).
Felip’s passion for moxibustion and his skills can be observed instantly during his classes. His open and giving teaching style and commitment to raising the standard of moxibustion for the profession has made him a sought after presenter across the globe. It’s with great enthusiasm that Felip presents his unique seminars in Brisbane and Sydney in 2025 to raise the standards of moxibustion in Australia.
As is required by National Law, we disclose that Felip Caudet is not a registered health professional within Australia
While in Australia for the Moxa Mastery Program 2025, Felip Caudet will also be an AACMAC Keynote presenter and will be giving 3 conference presentations at AACMAC 2025 in Brisbane from 25th-27th July 2025.

AACMAC 2025, 25th July- Day 1, 15:30-17:00 (Keynote Presentation/Workshop)
Moxibustion: an ancient tool to achieve extraordinary clinical results in the 21st century.
Ancient texts like the Huangdi Neijing (dating back to the Han Dynasty) refer extensively to moxibustion. Nowadays, it is something that some people can understand as an old-fashioned or archaic method. Modernity seems to shy away from such practices, because some of its forms appear not so convenient for the ‘new and clean tech world’. In many countries it is common to find acupuncturists who practice acupuncture but don’t practice moxibustion because they don’t like the smell or the smoke, or maybe because it is forbidden in their clinic spaces.
Sometimes people don’t receive enough undergraduate education/training in moxibustion, and the result is that finally they use very few moxa techniques (very often all is reduced to the usage of the moxa stick and the moxa-box).
To explore the huge universe of moxibustion with a lot of different techniques, ways, styles, effects and results could change the relation to moxa use for these unfortunate ‘moxa-relations’.
Moxibustion can be practiced in a very modern way without doubt. Applied following the classical principles and adapted to the most modern comprehension of the disorders. There are techniques such as direct moxibustion that can offer us fast and safe results.
This is a presentation with practical tips on the powerful and effective usage of Moxibustion in practice.
AACMAC 2025, 26th July- Day 2, 12:45-14:15
Transforming the Body with Moxibustion | Kinseikyu (Postural Balancing with Moxibustion) (Presentation/Demonstration)
Have you ever imagined that you could transform the body? This is something possible when you are working with moxibustion…in a very special way.
Kinseikyu is a unique method that allows you to use moxibustion techniques to release, balance and transform your external and internal organization- your posture. The body can be considered from different perspectives, in this method we consider the body, health and disease under the paradigm of “space”- Healthy “space” available in the body’s tissues for the presence of Qi and Blood. Imbalances created by external or internal factors will always create stagnation of Qi and consequently stagnation of Blood. This stagnation captures and occupies “space” in the body and is the beginning of losing your “space” for the presence of healthy and abundant Qi and Blood, and therefore can have a negative impact on your health.
To understand the body’s condition, we use different diagnostic tests- One of those tests is a unique neurological test based on the brain’s ability to feel our body’s postural/structural organization. This test gives us very important information about the condition of our channels, and at the same time allows the patient to understand what is happening and why we must help to change their body’s condition.
Based on the results of such tests, we understand where we need to apply moxibustion to various locations of the body to reestablish the correct flow of Qi and Blood in the body’s tissues to get our ‘space” back, and therefore our health!
Kinseikyu can be used to treat all kinds of disorders and symptoms (postural, structural, visceral, or mental/emotional) in a gentle, comfortable and effective way.
AACMAC 2025, 27th July- Day 3, 13:00-14:30
Understanding Moxa Flow: Treating Gynaecological Conditions (Workshop)
To improve your level of efficiency in treating gynaecological conditions with moxibustion means to deeply understand this unique and powerful tool, and the ways that we can use moxibustion to change and heal the body. Unfortunately, moxibustion has often been used only as a complement to an acupuncture session because it is being used solely for the purpose of warming. This application substantially reduces the power and the possibilities that various moxibustion methods can offer to us.
The “power of fire” in various moxibustion methods are for these purposes:
1) To add vitality to a system that is in a depleted condition or is empty in specific aspects.
2) To move Qi from one location to another when it is stagnant.
3) To unblock stagnation of Qi and Blood- both considered the root cause for chronic or long-term disorders.
These are the most important applications for moxibustion in Gynaecological conditions.
The human body has a natural tendency to stagnation. This point is emphasised when we talk about the organs that manage large quantities of Blood. The uterus is an organ that primarily involves the management of Blood and its physiology can suffer specifically from this natural tendency to Blood stagnation, which can be exacerbated due to external and internal factors. Moxibustion can be very useful for clearing stagnation and deeply nourishing the uterus and its associated organs and structures.
After attending this presentation, you will understand the powerful applications of Moxibustion to benefit all gynaecological disorders (infertility, endometriosis, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, menopause, and more), therefore rendering moxibustion an essential tool in your repertoire in treating these clinically relevant conditions.

The topics covered in his presentations:
- Fascia & Moxibustion: Going deep and far with fire
1.5 hr Workshop
Fri 4th August 2023- 2:45pm-4:15pmABSTRACT:
This is a workshop to break down the walls on moxibustion.
Classically, moxibustion has been used as a tool to warm the body and improve the strength and flow of Yang Qi. Nowadays, thanks to modern research on fascia, we can understand the far-reaching significance of classical moxibustion treatments, which offer much more than just ‘warming’. This allows us to give modern words to a traditional therapy (necessary for the new generations of practitioners in the 21st century) and provides us with very useful and new applications for clinical practice.
Fascia, as a connective tissue, connects physically the surface of the body with the deepest structures of the body, and it explains why our therapeutic actions on the skin have a correspondent effect on the visceral tissues. But, this is not only a mechanical action. It is also an exchange of information at the hormonal and neurological levels.
Going deep on some moxibustion techniques, specifically direct moxibustion, we can observe that we can actually modify fascial tissue. Unblocking stagnations of Qi and blood, we are ‘melting’ connective tissue and it means that we can model body structure. This ‘melting effect’ allows us to alter the tension between the tissues and redistribute the body’s lines of force. It means that body posture can be redesigned, and organic functions can be increased, decreased, harmonized or restored with moxibustion techniques.
The modern conception that moxibustion is an occasional adjunctive tool to acupuncture needs to be reconsidered by modern practitioners, so that moxibustion plays an equally important role in treatment, in alignment with the traditional name zhēn jiǔ (針灸 | 针灸 | 鍼灸in Chinese) or shin kyu (しんきゅうin Japanese), which signifies Acupuncture-Moxa as a total therapeutic system.
Moxibustion, when applied correctly, provides a new dimension in practice, and can be utilised as a unique therapeutic intervention to take your clinical results to the next level.
In this workshop, Felip Caudet will cover theoretical and practical elements of Japanese moxibustion based on his years of experience and tutelage under Japanese moxibustion masters, and his unique modern developments using moxibustion in practice to influence posture/structure. Demonstrations on how to balance body structure with different moxa strategies will be shown on various delegates from the audience. - Moxibustion based on palpation: Moxa treatment in real time with rapid results
45 min Lecture/Demonstration
Sat 5th August 2023- 11:45am-12:30pmABSTRACT:
This lecture is for practitioners who wish to improve their moxibustion results in real time.
Too often in practice, moxa is used because it is recommended by the diagnosed syndrome, by ‘infallible’ ideas that we have when we are treating our patients, or by following various treatment protocols.
In this lecture, it will be demonstrated how Japanese moxibustion has elaborated a way of practicing moxibustion based on palpation diagnostics, decreasing the risk of incorrect syndrome diagnosis, or actions based on suppositions. Palpation gives us a way to check if our treatment plan will be effective, or must be changed.
When we wish to choose a moxa technique and link it with a point, we need to understand first the nature of the technique (design and effects) and second, the characteristics of the point (as when we want to open a door with a key).
During this lecture, we will explore where on the body to find ‘live’ moxa points, how to find them to improve your clinical success, and how to correlate your findings with diagnosis and treatment.
The Line of Transmission in the Fukaya Style of Moxibustion
Isaburo Fukaya Sensei was a very famous moxibustion master in the 20th Century in Japan. Throughout his career, as a teacher he had many followers and students due to his great pedagogical skills and his extensive clinical experience.
The late Irie Seiji Sensei was recognised as Fukaya Sensei’s best student. To him, we owe the publication of the work ‘Fukayakyu’ that served to name the style and to spread Fukaya Sensei’s knowledge. Also his continuation in the teaching after Fukaya’s passing was very important. In this work, Irie Sensei was supported by Fukaya’s son, Hideo Shinma. Shinma Sensei helped Irie Sensei to maintain the heritage by publishing, reissuing and disseminating his father’s work over the years.
Later appeared the figure of Tetsuya Fukushima. He studied with Irie Sensei and was considered during his years as the highest representative of the style in Japan. Fukushima Sensei optimised the practice, respecting the rules of the style and simplified it without losing effectiveness. Fukushima Sensei passed away in 2022.
Felip Caudet, being a westerner, is an exceptional case. He was accepted by Fukushima Sensei as ‘oshiego’ (student), and in the following years he was recognised in the line of transmission of the Fukaya Style of Moxibustion, for his contributions in the understanding of the style, and the development of aspects related to the search of points such as the Triangle Theory. He is renowned for teaching Fukayakyu internationally.
In a number of Oriental countries, Japan included, it is considered a sign of disrespect to teach a style without the permission of the master. It’s for this reason that we thank you for respecting Fukaya Sensei’s tradition by choosing to study with a teacher from the line of transmission or an authorised teacher.
“Teaching in a line of transmission of a moxibustion style can’t be out of the back of a book- it’s a highly developed skill over time. It comes from years of dedication and hundreds, or even thousands of hours under Masters of the Style, as well as thousands of hours of clinical practice and experience, that is then shared with students.”

Isaburo Fukaya Sensei (Tokyo, 1900-1974)
Master Fukaya is recognised as a Master of Moxibustion in the Showa period. He was restless, prolific, and possessed great intellectual capacity for reflection and study. Before the outbreak of WWII (Fukaya was in his late 30s) he had already written several books about pedagogy and study. When studying law at Nihon Daigaku Hougaku in Tokyo he fell ill with tuberculosis. He found the solution to his illness in moxibustion. His recovery was an intense and powerful experience. This led him to study, and later develop deeply, the art and practice of moxibustion.
Isaburo Fukaya, formed as a moxibustionist, built his style through reading and reviewing classical texts [some famous ones such as Meika kyûsen (名家灸選) and some not so famous such as Kôtei Meido Kyu Kei (黄帝明堂灸経)], and through the observation of other practitioners as well as through very extensive and thorough clinical experience.
He visited many temples (traditional moxa hotbeds) and practitioners. He saw that although the moxa being practiced was effective it was also very painful. The cones were large. A very famous proponent of this was Kobonokyu in Asakusa (Tokyo) with cones of the size of a plum (ume). In order to receive the benefits of moxa, the patients had to endure very painful treatments, and it was something that he sought to remedy. He developed his famous bamboo tube (takezutsu) in order to solve this situation.
Fukaya was also inspired, by a classical master called Goto Konzan and some of his ideas, such as the the moxa point forming due to stagnation of the Qi and Blood, and the value of moxibustion as therapy.
Fukaya published several books, such as Kyu ni yoru chiryou ho (1963), Meikyuketsu no kennkyu (1963), Okyu de byouki wo naoshita hanashi (6 volumes from 1966 to 1972), Meikakyûsen siakugi (1973), and his version of Kôtei Meido Kyu Kei (1973), as well as a monthly magazine Shinkyu Zatsushi Chiryou devoted to acupuncture and moxibustion (223 issues published from 1955 to 1964). After the death of the master, other books of Fukaya were published by his son, Hideo Shinma.
Fukaya Sensei always thought that moxibustion should be spread across the globe, as it could be very beneficial to mankind. He made great efforts to carefully record treatment sessions, to record treatment findings (extra points with specific actions) and to review published and classical works on moxibustion.
It is indeed a rich legacy that has been left to us by Isaburo Fukaya Sensei, and the line of transmission continues the teachings to benefit the highly effective and correct practice of Fukaya Style moxibustion around the world.
“Moxibustion doesn’t work, you make it work.”
– Isaburo Fukaya Sensei
Seminar A
Japanese Moxibustion: Foundations | Refinement | Development + GYN Conditions
Wed 30th & Thur 31st July 2025- Sydney
“Moxibustion is a sophisticated method of treating the body from an Oriental Medicine perspective, which can have extremely powerful clinical results if practiced correctly. However, it involves a lot of hand dexterity, coordination, and skill to perform correctly, and these skills must be taught, then developed, and then refined further under the guidance of a qualified teacher who embodies this level of skill. Furthermore, to correctly perform moxibustion, the practitioner must understand how to correctly palpate the various areas of the body to find ‘Live Moxa Points’ and also know the different palpation styles required to do so, which informs the specific technique to be applied, and for what purpose. The practitioner then must correctly form moxa cones/grains or utilise other moxa methods to stimulate the live point/zone/area, and apply the correct technique and number of cones/grains or the correct amount of heat stimulation to create a change in the treatment zone to effect a treatment.”
This is a moxibustion foundations seminar with a twist.
We consider this an essential seminar for those wishing to create solid moxibustion foundations – students, and those new to Japanese Moxibustion (okyu) who wish to be taught the archetype of correct moxibustion techniques and methods, to start them off on the right track for all future practice.
What about those who have been practicing moxibustion for years? What about those who have been practicing with moxa recently, and have attended some basic trainings?
In this case we consider this an essential seminar to refine your moxibustion technique, remove any incorrect methods and practices or errors, and set you on a path of self-development and refinement of your moxibustion technique over your practicing lifetime to rapidly improve your effectiveness in treatment.
In summary, this seminar is important to solidify the foundations for practitioners and students at all levels of moxibustion practice to ensure a certain level of practice, especially if they wish to complete the other seminars (B or C) in the program, which require foundation skills to attend.
But most importantly, we will teach you when and why you should be using moxibustion instead of acupuncture in your treatments, and which specific moxibustion technique to use. This leads to a rapid improvement in clinical results.
The techniques of moxibustion can be graded from very soft (subtle techniques) to very strong (physical and structural techniques). The heat of the moxibustion is understood through an energetic concept (Qi supplementation or dispersion) and not through thermal concepts.
Tonetsukyu (Rice Grain Moxibustion) and Chinetsukyu (Heat Perception Cone Moxibustion) – the primary techniques that we will cover in this seminar, are the most popular and effective moxibustion techniques that exist in the Japanese moxa universe.
Chinetsukyu techniques are for the surface levels, and Tonetsukyu techniques are for deeper levels of the body.
The various techniques consist of the application of moxa cones/grains of various size/density (some large, some tiny, and in between; some densely packed, some loosely packed) with differing grades of moxa on specific points. These techniques allow one to regulate the energetic, blood and lymphatic movement in the tissues, working on the so-called ‘living/live’ points.
Unfamiliar to many, the palpation methods for Tonetsukyu and Chinetsukyu are completely different, and learning of both palpation methods is required to apply these foundation techniques correctly and effectively.
Prioritising the development of manual sensitivity in the correct search for “living points,” and applying the cones/grains of high quality moxa correctly, a level of clinical efficacy without equal is achieved.
The strength of the correct moxibustion technique is that it is aimed at treating the situation that the patient suffers in real time. There are no assumptions or speculations, but clear evidence of what the situation is through palpation diagnostics, and what changes are achieved through correct application of treatment. Through this type of moxibustion we get a stimulus for the immune system and a rebalancing throughout the meridian system, which in turn will regulate any organic or functional disorder. The remission of pain and the recovery of functionality in complicated cases are rapid and effective.

This seminar is recommended as a standalone seminar to work on your moxibustion foundations. It can be considered as a non-essential pre-requisite to seminars B or C. Based on the fact that if you believe your moxibustion foundations skills are at an intermediate to advanced level, you may attend seminars B or C without requiring to do this seminar first. However, we recommend all in the program to take this course.
Seminar B
Foundations of Fukayakyu (Isaburo Fukaya’s Style of Moxibustion)
Fri 1st & Sat 2nd August 2025- Sydney
A very particular style of moxibustion that enjoys great recognition in the world of Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion is the style of Isaburo Fukaya (Fukayakyuho). Considered in many ways as a qualitative improvement on traditional practice – rapid and effective clinical results contributed at a time in the 20th century when health resources were limited – Fukaya’s style is considered one of the most specific styles that exists in Japanese moxibustion today.
The creation of a tool like the bamboo tube (takezutsu), or Fukaya’s tube, brought a lot of satisfaction to the patients who were treated with moxibustion, since it diminished one of the most challenging aspects of moxibustion, the burning sensation. However, Fukaya’s tube also brought with it other special uses as a diagnostic and therapeutic device.
Isaburo Fukaya was an exclusive moxibustion practitioner, that is, he didn’t use any other techniques apart from moxibustion. His respect for classical texts and his great intellectual capacity allowed him a deep study and a high level of practice. These aspects, and others, made Fukaya a great connoisseur of the behaviour and effects of moxa in the body. In his great practical development over almost 60 years, he treated thousands of patients throughout his extensive professional life, and this provided him with an exceptional clinical eye. Proof of this is all the literature he published, with a vast treasure of his special moxibustion points being carried through the lineage that followed him.
The understanding of moxibustion that Master Fukaya had deserves special attention because he was the most important and advanced master of Japanese moxibustion in the modern era.
Across the globe, there many who have heard about the Fukaya Style of Moxibustion or claim that they practice it. However, there are very few people who know the style, have high levels of practical experience in it, and teach it correctly. These rare few people are the Masters/teachers in the Fukaya line of transmission.
Those who begin to study the Fukaya style of Moxibustion begin to have a new and unique understanding of Oriental Medicine physiology through their study of the style, and discover how it uniquely understands, diagnoses and treats disharmony in the body.
In the Moxa Mastery Program 2025, this is one of the most anticipated seminars, as it is the second time the foundations of the Fukaya Style of Moxibustion have been taught by a teacher in Fukaya’s line of transmission in Australia.
This seminar will equip you with the primary methods of diagnosis, the treatment protocols and methods, the foundation principles of the style, and will teach you how to apply them in practice for general or specific conditions. You will also be provided with hands on time with the instructor to make sure you are performing the methods correctly, as it has been practiced by Fukaya and the line of transmission in his footsteps.
Your clinical results in practice after applying what you learned in this seminar will truly reveal the power of this style of moxibustion.

Like following the steps on a treasure map, this consists of taking measurements with a piece of string on one part of the body and applying them on other parts of the body, to find the hidden moxibustion point at the end of the string.”- Felip Caudet
This seminar may be attended without completing Seminar A, only if you believe your moxibustion foundations skills are at an intermediate to advanced level. We do recommend that those who attend this seminar should also attend Seminar A to ensure foundation levels prior to attending.
Seminar C
Foundations of Kinseikyu (Postural Balancing Moxibustion)
Sun 3rd & Mon 4th August 2025- Sydney
Posture is something rarely considered by Oriental Medicine practitioners since it is commonly left to other disciplines to attend to. At the same time, there are many misunderstandings about posture, such as the belief that there are good or bad postures (with all the burden of this understanding). Posture itself is neither good nor bad; indeed, posture may or may not cause problems. But when posture results in problems in the structure and function of the body, it must be corrected to restore the correct flow of Qi and Blood in the body, and this is the responsibility of the Oriental Medicine practitioner to attend to.
Moxibustion is a powerful technique that can change the body at a deep level. Fascia, as a connective tissue, connects physically the surface of the body with the deepest structures of the body, and it explains why our therapeutic actions of moxibustion on the skin have a correspondent effect on visceral tissues. Moxibustion has several effects (including exchange of information at the hormonal and neurological levels), but the two most important and special effects of moxibustion in relation to influencing the body structure is that it can unblock fascial tissue, and also improve the flow of Qi and Blood in the body. This also depends on the moxibustion technique used, of which there are some that are specialised for these purposes. By unblocking stagnations of Qi and blood, we are ‘melting’ connective tissue and it means that we can model body structure. This ‘melting effect’ allows us to alter the tension between the tissues and redistribute the body’s lines of force. It means that body posture can be redesigned, and organic functions can be increased, decreased, harmonised or restored with moxibustion techniques, leading to harmony of Qi and Blood flow in the body.
Kinseikyu development was influenced by the work of Isaburo Fukaya, arguably one of the most famous Japanese moxibustion masters of the 20th century, and a European classical posture-releasing discipline known as Método Mézières/Mézières Method (Click here for more information). During his years of experience as a physiotherapist who specialised in postural re-education, with a deep interest for Japanese moxibustion in his clinical practice, Felip Caudet (the founder of Kinseikyu) discovered how the two disciplines could come together to provide something very valuable in the field of acupuncture and moxibustion.
Felip found the way to release and re-design the posture with moxibustion techniques.
Kinseikyu (Postural Balancing Moxibustion) is a new application and a new way of using moxibustion to influence the structure and function of the body in a holistic way.
In the Moxa Mastery Program 2025, this is a truly unique seminar, and it is the second time the Foundations of Kinseikyu has been taught in Australia.
This seminar will equip you with the primary methods of diagnosis (including postural assessment and proprioceptive testing), the treatment protocols and methods, the foundation principles of the style, and will teach you how to apply them in practice for postural/structural conditions to benefit the correct balance of Qi and Blood flow in the body. You will also be provided with hands on time with the instructor to make sure you are performing the methods correctly.
Your clinical results in practice after applying what you learned in this seminar will truly reveal the power of this unique style of moxibustion.

- Introduction to Kinseikyu
- Understanding Posture
- Visual Postural Assessment
- Proprioceptive Assessment
- Bio-mechanical Perspectives
- Treatment Methods I: Direct Moxibustion Methods for Kinseikyu

Easy-to-Apply Moxibustion Methods to Improve Clinical Results
One Day Workshop (Post-AACMAC)
Brisbane – Mon 28th July 2025
Moxibustion, an essential and indivisible component of traditional acupuncture practice, is less represented by the current generation of acupuncture practitioners internationally, in comparison to previous generations.
The practice of traditional Moxibustion can take skill to develop and apply clinically, but there are many methods that can be learned and applied rapidly and effectively in clinic that do not require long learning curves or development and can result in rapid and outstanding clinical results.
This workshop is a gateway to the “Moxa- universe.”
This workshop will teach methods that are so simple to apply based on the usage of modern moxa inventions (stick-on moxa and other methods) which are safe, easy, quick and effective to use, and produce little smoke. The fascinating thing is that by adding the usage of these humble yet brilliant moxa devices into your clinical repertoire, you can exponentially improve your clinical results, and minimal skill development is required. Furthermore, they are suitable for time-sensitive clinics due to their fast clinical application times.
Moxa is the primary tool to warm and unblock stagnation in the body and its acupuncture channels and zones, but palpation is the key in knowing where to apply it to achieve unparalleled clinical results.
Using the right tool and applying it in the right location can have miraculous results.
This is a hands-on one-day workshop filled with useful techniques that you can apply easily in your clinic to improve your results with your patients.

Should I attend the Post-AACMAC Workshop: Easy-to-Apply Moxibustion Methods to Improve Clinical Results in Brisbane– Mon 28th July 2025?
- This is a specially designed workshop to encourage all practitioners to start applying the most simple methods of moxibustion to their practice, to multiple the efficacy of their clinical results.
- We recommend all practitioners who can make this workshop to be in attendance.
- We have offered this workshop at a special discounted rate to encourage people to attend, as we simply want as many people in our industry as possible to be utilising easy to apply moxibustion methods when applicable in their clinics, so they can share in the “power of fire.”
- You will thank us for this offering, and the best part of it is that it will be fun!
How do I decide which seminar(s) of Seminars A+B +C in the program is/are for me?
- We have structured this program to give options of attendance depending on each person’s needs and interests.
- We recommend all attendees to do the entire program. Doing the entire program will absolutely equip each attendee with complete treatment systems for treating/regulating internal disorders (root and branch), as well as structural and pain disorders of the body, at the same time as solidifying the foundations of Japanese moxibustion.
- We understand that attendees may have more interest in certain seminars over others.
- If you have more interest in treating internal disorders only, we recommend a combination of Seminars A+B
- If you have more interest in treating the body structure, musculoskeletal disorders, and balancing the structure to regulate the flow of Qi + Blood in the body, then we recommend a combination of Seminars A+C
- If you have an equal interest in the above 2 points, we recommend attending Seminars A+B+C
- If you are wishing to only attend a Japanese Moxibustion Foundations seminar to either start you off on your moxibustion journey on the right foot, or refine and develop from where you are at, attend Seminar A
- It’s our recommendation that if you believe you are intermediate to advanced level in your moxibustion skills that you may register for seminars B or C or B+C combined, and don’t need to attend Seminar A.
We provide links to 2 articles on moxibustion below, authored by the instructor (Felip Caudet) in the North American Journal of Oriental Medicine (NAJOM). We feel that these articles may provide more background to what you will learn about in the Fukayakyu or Kinseikyu seminars, and help you in your decision process.

Basic concepts on one of the most famous Japanese moxibustion styles, brought to us by Isaburo Fukaya Sensei (1900-1974). The secrets of understanding Fukayakyu are understood by analysing the authentic tools of Fukaya Sensei, and following the essential principles of Fukayakyu left to us by Fukaya Sensei. This information was recorded by his disciple (deshi), Irie Seiji Sensei (Second in the Fukayakyu Lineage).
Body posture can be balanced with a combination of moxibustion techniques. Kinseikyu is a therapy based on postural principles and moxibustion. The main objectives are to restore health, improve functionality of the body as a whole, and return the posture of the body to a balanced state.
So, should I attend Seminar A?
- Our recommendation is that if possible, all attendees should consider attending Seminar A.
- Moxibustion is a highly refined skill, and is something that requires constant development. One does not simply have moxibustion skills from attending a moxibustion seminar, or have the ability/authority to teach seminars after attending a seminar. It takes dedication to become proficient and skilled at moxibustion. This involves reviewing the foundations regularly, and continually practicing, and practicing on patients. If given the right directions on how to develop one’s skills by a senior teacher, one can increase their abilities to self-develop over years of practice. At the same time, a senior teacher can help to remove errors in one’s practice.
- The aim of offering Seminar A is so that everyone who attends Seminars B or C have baseline level foundations. It is so they will not detract from the teachings in Seminar B or C, so the teachings of those styles can be focused on during those seminars, and not the assumed moxibustion knowledge that will be covered in Seminar A.
Who should not attend these moxibustion seminars?
- If you have an allergy to moxa or moxa smoke, please avoid using it, and we recommend not attending these seminars.
- If you are not permitted to use moxa in your clinic and don’t wish to use it because of this reason, we ask you to consider carefully if you wish to attend these seminars. However, we recommend these seminars if you have an interest in potential moxa usage in the future, for personal use, or for the sake of learning an important part of Oriental Medicine tradition.
- If you feel that practicing moxibustion does not suit your treatment style in clinic, then we ask you to consider carefully if you wish to attend these seminars.

Correctly finding moxa points on the body is the secret to performing successful and clinically effective moxibustion treatments. This article elaborates on many concepts on how and where on the body to find effective moxa points for direct moxibustion.
“Moxibustion doesn’t work, you make it work. Use special points to draw out the effect.”- Isaburo Fukaya Sensei
One of the methods used for point location in clinic by Isaburo Fukaya (1900-1974) and mentioned in his texts, was Jôsetsu-hô (じょうせつほう) or the “Bent String Method.” Like following the steps on a treasure map, this consists of taking measurements with a piece of string on one part of the body and applying them on other parts of the body, to find the hidden moxibustion point(s) at the end of the string.

Fascia and Fukaya: Correlating traditional moxibustion with modern ideas.
This fascinating article goes deep into understanding fascia and how its patterns of harmony and disharmony present in the body, in a triangular pattern. Understanding this fascinating diagnostic finding that presents itself clinically can assist us to find dysfunction in areas of the body, and their relationship to other areas in proximity to the problem area (all determined through palpation), which all effect the presenting condition. After finding the most effective points pertinent to the disharmony based on this theory, we can then influence the particular condition with the correct application of moxibustion to have extremely effective clinical results.
